Tonight I would like to have a discussion on the organization of the Movie Night:
1. It seems to me that there is a lot more good material in iTunes than YouTube -- I would like to see us move to a more iTunes - centric model, but this means that participants will have to be able to download the video say, a week before hand.
2. If we do go to a more iTunes-centered model, it would also make sense to have some sort of support for people who are not avid iTunes users to help them through the process.
3. There also needs to be an easier way for participants to get involved in the selection of video. My thought is for us to decide as a group on a monthly theme, and look for video that fits that theme. Among other things to set up a web space (perhaps this group) for discussions on theme and video selections.

While I was always more impressed by the US tradition of philosophical pragmatism, (and my current views are a variant of analytic pragmatism) quite a lot of analytic philosophy was promoted by, and many interesting questions were raised by, the movement called Logical Positivism. This evening's philosophy movie night will examine some of the questions and attempted answers that still have quite a lot to do with how we think about the meaning of science. A. J. Ayer, talks about the origins and problems of Logical Positivism:
