I was thinking about starting with some video about concepts of free will and the relationship between intention (or design) and evolutionary processes.

Sounds interesting although I worry such a focus would lead to a debate on the existence of God... an unproductive discussion that does not lead to enlightenment.

When I reflected on Kate's comment a bit, I realized that more interesting to me than the existence (or non-existance) of God, is how people conceive of God. I tend to be attracted to more pantheistic versions, and skeptical of a supernatural concepts. But God has meant a great variety of things to different people, and of course, a person's answer to questions about the existence of God will depend on what they mean.
We can always change the subject if our discussions start to lead in circles.. :) -
