I just wanted to let you know I will be missing teas and brunches until after the 20th of December -- I'm off to Sweden one week to co-lead a graduate workshop in feminist methodology and the next week to do a seminar with faculty, post-docs and anyone else on transdisciplinary practices and my stuff on TV and the web and reenactments (you know some of this). Well I missed the weekly Tea tonight to go see the documentary Second Skin -- which I thought was going to have material on Second Life. Very little. Although billed as being about virtual worlds, it was really about folks caught up in gaming, mostly in World of Warcraft and Everquest. The most straightforward ways of thinking about political economy and epistemology I know come from feminist theory and cybernetics, two legacies that I, perhaps too often, take for granted.
