Well I missed the weekly Tea tonight to go see the documentary Second Skin -- which I thought was going to have material on Second Life. Very little. Although billed as being about virtual worlds, it was really about folks caught up in gaming, mostly in World of Warcraft and Everquest. Because the filmmakers -- who where there at AFI, and local folks who grew up in Silver Spring MD -- wanted to focus on "good stories" they tended to concentrate on online romance and addiction. I don't want to minimize the suffering addictions can cause, but I guess I wanted to see something that spoke to the pleasures of Second Life in a less dramatic mode?
And is it a good idea to maybe have all Teas and Brunches listed here -- whether there is a presentation or not? Then people could say if they are coming or not? Would that make it more convenient? Just a thought.
